Introducing Plainfield Chiropractor Dr. Scott Stuck

Drs. Scott and Stacie Stuck with their children, Keira, Riley and Logan. When I was in high school, something happened to me that changed my life forever.

As a high school student I was not sure what career path to take, but I knew I wanted to help people. I enjoyed studying the human body and was always fascinated by how perfectly it worked. My parents were very pleased when I told them I had thoughts of attending medical school. Well, not long after I’ll never forget how my life changed.

Back in November of 1991 during a  football game, I suffered a serious injury in which I developed a condition that left me in so much pain that I could not walk. I was unable to attend school and had trouble getting out of bed to accomplish even the simplest daily tasks.

After a few days like this, I still was not feeling any better. It was at this time that my brother recommended that I visit his chiropractor. Although I did not know much about chiropractic at the time, I knew that I had to do something.

The chiropractor did an exam, took some films, and then “adjusted” my spine. Although I was originally apprehensive, the adjustment did not hurt. In fact, it actually felt good. Within hours, I got tremendous relief and within a couple of visits I could feel the life returning back into my body as the pain disappeared. Once again, I was able to perform daily activities that I had always just taken for granted. This seemed like a miracle to me. I was amazed that this doctor knew exactly how to correct my problem instead of just masking the pain with drugs or surgery.

It was at this moment that I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life.

I began my chiropractic education, with pre-chiropractic requirements at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. There I studied basic pre-professional courses with an emphasis on the basic science courses such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.

After completing my course of study there, I was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport Iowa. During my four years of studies at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic.

While attending Palmer College, I met my wife. She was also studying to be a chiropractor after completing her undergraduate work at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota. As the philosophy of chiropractic began to sink in, I started cleaning out my medicine cabinet. I realized that I didn’t need a pill for indigestion, allergies, ear infections, or even to help get over a headache.

If my body was producing a symptom, I had to figure out WHY, instead of just covering it up with a drug. Now it was time to teach others what we had learned.

Our mission at Main Street Chiropractic in Plainfield is to adjust and educate families to allow them to achieve their God-given potential. We believe that God sent us to spread an important message – “Your body has the ability to heal from anything, as long as there is no interference.”

Similar to most parents, our ultimate goal in life is to raise healthy, happy children. We have two daughters, Keira and Riley. Rather than defending our healthcare choices, we choose to lead by example and let our daughters’ natural healthy glow radiate. We strive to follow God’s path and to have “more faith in God than in a spoonful of medicine.” Our positive philosophy is taught daily and emulates from each of our practice members.

Dr. Scott Stuck Asks some important questions of interest to Plainfield residents - Chiropractor Plainfield Dr. Scott Stuck Asks...

Can chiropractic relieve PMS?
If you have vertebral subluxations, especially in the lower spine that impair nerves that direct and monitor the reproductive and hormonal systems, chiropractic could be helpful. Undetected vertebral subluxations may also be responsible for pelvic pain, incontinence, sexual dysfunction and even infertility. Maybe chiropractic can help. Find out!
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Plainfield parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
